Let’s Dance

'The Dance' print edition by Lee Eelus

My latest print edition The Dance is online and available to buy at the Art808 website.

The Dance first appeared as a mural on the streets of Brighton, painted shortly after the end of the COVID lockdowns as part of a new art trail encouraging the local community to step back outside and explore their streets again. Working with the themes of community and kindness I created the piece in keeping with my newly emerging style, balancing both literal and abstract, with interlocking forms of flat vivid colour dancing across the wall. A homage of sorts to one of my favourite artists Matisse, whose work of the same title can be seen as my starting point, but the final piece arriving somewhere quite different.

This is my first release with Art808 and is part of their 1 year anniversary group pop-up art show Rip It Up, Start Again that runs 16-18 Dec, 15 New Bond St, Bath, exhibiting work from a number of UK artists including Magnus Gjoen, Carrie Reichardt, My Dog Sighs and more.
